I am a maker at heart. Imagine my delight when we were planning February’s First Wednesday and Lisa of Nest, soon to be The MAKERY, suggested we turn the art gallery into an interactive valentine craft station! If you aren't familiar with our First Wednesday Event, you have to check it out! All the shops at Community get together to host a fun, interactive night. We typically open our space up so local artist can set up and get some exposure, Seabirds Food Truck is on hand, our resident DJ spins and all the shops stay open late (until 10pm). Typically we'll get a theme going and each shop will try to do a little something special for the evening!
I had to get the kids involved! We decided to keep the kids crafts simple and make it a little Pre-First Wednesday Party from 6-7pm! I am always amazed at the creativity both kids and parents exude when given the opportunity. Thank you to everyone who participated. So much fun!
Of Course the fun kept going as Lisa set-up for main crafts from 7-9 she came up with the most amazing inspirations and watching everyone put on their personal touch was thrilling. Here's a sample of one of the many crafts Lisa came up with... you can see more on their blog.
Around 8pm Naranjita Flamenco surprised everyone with a flamenco flashmob. The Yoga Stone kicked off the evening with Zumba, what a way to get the party started!
Side Note: This blog (update) is coming a day late because aI woke up Thursday morning feeling wretched, cough, soar throat, tired the whole bit. Luckily Kristen could s cover my shift at the shop, and my mom came over so I could rest. Thursday evening my husband was stopping by mothers - I said get me a smoothie from their juice bar, anything that sounds good for a cold. I don’t know what he brought home, but WOW. Full of cayenne, spicy, and wonderful relief. It hit all the places in my throat and ears that were irritated. I feel a million times better! With a little commitment you can really cure everything with food. So of course this got us researching cayenne. Too many benefits to list.... but google the benefits of cayenne, you will be shocked in a good way!
